DANA RUBEN

After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado in Boulder, she studied at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago, where she completed her Masters in the Science of Traditional Oriental Medicine. Through the Pacific College campus, Dana worked in the student clinic as a Chinese Medicine health care provider for a variety of patients. This 4-year program includes 900 hours of clinical work and experience. Dana interned at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. Additionally, interning at a community clinic treating underserved communities with integrative medicine. Dana implements the holistic approach to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) by creating an individualized treatment plan for each patient. Dana’s ultimate goal is providing affordable integrative care to patients and working alongside other health providers to find the best care for each individual.
After completing her Master's degree in European Studies at the University of Amsterdam, Dutch native Dorothe Kolkena worked as a language teacher until she moved to Brazil. There she came in contact with Traditional Chinese Medicine and fell in love with its approach to health.
For over 20 years, she has studied under various TCM masters, the most notable being Ernesto Garcia in São Paulo, under whose guidance she combined her love for teaching with her passion for Chinese Medicine as a TCM teacher, all while running a successful private practice.
After moving to Michigan, she completed her Master of Science in Oriental Medicine at the Chicago College of Oriental Medicine and is a fully licensed acupuncturist. She sees people in general practice but has specialized in women’s health/obstetrics and facial acupuncture, while studying to specialize in oncology.
Dorothe is a firm believer in an integrative approach to healthcare and feels that working alongside other care providers increases her patients' chances of living a long and healthy life.
